We have teamed up with some fantastic people to provide therapies and support for you.

Wellbeing… the state of being comfortable, healthy, happy

Going through cancer treatment can take its toil on your wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem. YouCan are here to help by providing support on an individual basis as well as through workshops and Wellbeing Weekends. All these elements can help to restore your sense of well-being.

Nutrition

There are many benefits to learning about the effects that food can have on health. From restoring energy to strengthening the immune system. There has been research carried out about the positive effects of eating certain types of food. YouCan will help to give you the information you want to be able to make your own informed choices if you want to consider a lifestyle change with regards to food and eating for health.

We include healthy food options in all our activities, whether you come along for a day or a weekend. We will also run specifically nutrition based workshops to give you a chance to explore things in more depth.

Exercise

You might not feel like doing too much but there is evidence to show that regular activity when you’re going through cancer, or recovering from it, can have great benefits to your wellbeing. 

Whether we have a day or weekend workshop we will include some gentle activity. It might simply be a short walk in the fresh air or a relaxing yoga session. We will also be offering activity based workshops designed in conjunction with sports professionals.

We are also soon to be launching our 12 week YouCan programme including exercise and emotional support to help regain confidence after cancer treatment. The YouCan programme is individually tailored to your needs and you will have full support from specialised professionals and the YouCan Team throughout. We are also having an App created to keep up to date with your progress, with advice, support and information about YouCan.

Complementary Therapies

There is a vast array of different therapies available that can have really positive effects on your emotional and physical wellbeing such as Reflexology, Acupuncture, Reiki, Mindfulness, Art Therapy and Counselling. Our wellness weekends will include opportunities to try different therapies and we can also organise therapies with professionally trained and registered practitioners in your local area.

Counselling

Exploring our thoughts and emotions isn’t always easy but can be really useful, particularly when lives have been affected by serious illness. That will change so many things about our lives; how we see ourselves and how we see our future. Meeting with a trained and experienced counsellor could be a simple but positive experience. We are able to offer individual counselling sessions to people who feel they would really benefit from this type of approach. And our counsellors will always be available at our wellbeing weekends and often a part of our day workshops.
